This is the most common complaint in public reviews of bulk pricing apps, and it is almost always the same shape: something went wrong during a promotion, the merchant opened a ticket, and the reply came days later or not at all.
Recover without the vendor
- Uninstalling does not undo price changes. The prices are on your products now; removing the app just removes your ability to use its own undo.
- Before uninstalling anything, export your products to CSV. That is your record of the current state.
- Check whether the app wrote a snapshot you can still download. Many do, and it is usually reachable from the sale or job detail screen.
- If there is no snapshot, rebuild from your own sources: a pre-sale CSV, your cost sheet, or past orders.
- Fix compare-at prices as well as prices. A leftover compare-at is what makes a storefront keep advertising a sale that ended.
Leftover theme code
Some older apps also inject code into your theme. If your storefront still shows sale badges after the prices are correct, check your theme for leftover snippets, and keep a copy of the theme before editing it.
What to check before installing the next one
- Does it write a snapshot before it changes anything, and can you download that snapshot yourself?
- Can you preview the exact resulting price per variant before it runs?
- Does restoring or rolling back cost extra, or count against a quota? Recovery you cannot afford is not recovery.
- Does it touch your theme? An app that only changes product prices leaves nothing behind when it is gone.
SaleGuard is run by one person, so support is that person rather than a queue. The more useful answer, though, is that the snapshot is yours: it downloads as a CSV, and it restores your catalogue whether or not we ever reply.
