Running a Shopify flash sale is easy to start and surprisingly easy to leave in a bad state. A reliable checklist should protect the original prices, make the planned changes visible, and leave a recovery path before the campaign goes live.

1. Choose the products and discount rules

Write down the collections, products, variants, discount type, start time, end time, and store timezone. Do not rely on a campaign name alone. A precise scope makes it possible to review the exact products that will change.

2. Export the current prices

Create a product export before changing anything. Keep the original price, compare-at price, SKU, variant ID, and product handle. Store the file outside Shopify so it remains available if an app is removed or a later import goes wrong.

3. Preview the result

Review the current price, sale price, and expected restore price for every variant. Check rounding, zero or negative values, variants that are already discounted, and products excluded from the campaign. A dry run is more useful than discovering a mistake after the update begins.

4. Test a small product set

Run the workflow on a small collection or a few test products first. Check the storefront, product page, cart, and any sales-channel feeds. Confirm that compare-at prices display as expected on desktop and mobile.

5. Confirm the schedule and timezone

Write the timezone next to the start and end time. Set a calendar reminder shortly before the campaign starts and shortly after it ends. For a high-volume event, assign one person to monitor the first few minutes.

6. Keep the restore plan ready

The restore plan should be prepared before launch, not after a price incident. Keep the CSV export and the app snapshot accessible to the store owner. Know whether the tool can restore automatically and whether a manual rollback is available.

7. Check the catalog after the sale

After the end time, verify a sample from every collection and a sample of excluded products. Check both the storefront and Shopify Admin. Record anything unexpected before starting another promotion.

SaleGuard is built around this snapshot-first workflow: save original prices, preview the changes, schedule the sale, restore from the snapshot, and keep a rollback path. It is intended for merchants who want a visible recovery plan before changing a large catalog.

Note

No tool can edit prices after its access is revoked by uninstall. Keep the downloadable backup in the merchant's own storage.
